@SlowpokeSavings asks
if I want to buy a card to hold for a few years, what should I actually look for besides somebody on youtube yelling BUY THIS
Jeff answers
I look for collector demand that lasts beyond a spike, how many copies are available, condition, and a purchase price supported by recent sales. Our app is where I start checking the market. Then I ask whether I'd still be comfortable owning it if the price fell or selling took months. Cards are speculative, so I keep bill money out of it. A popular Pokémon alone doesn't make every price a good buy.
