When a Kid's Trade Goes Wrong

@PokeDadInTraining asks

my kid traded away a favorite and regrets it. Do I go ask the other parent to reverse it or let it be a lesson?

Jeff answers

I'd first find out whether your child understood the trade and felt free to say no. If there was confusion or pressure, a calm conversation with the other parent is reasonable. If it was a clear, willing trade followed by regret, you can still ask politely, but a reversal isn't owed. Going forward, help your child keep a separate “not for trade” section.
