I understand why that feels backward. A card can leave the factory with uneven borders, print lines, or imperfect edges. A sleeve protects the condition it already has; it doesn't change what happened before you opened it. Check the front and back under good light, but don't feel you have to become a grader overnight. Fresh from a pack is a starting point, not a promised grade.
