I'd take that feeling seriously. Decide which items still serve your goals and which mostly create responsibility. You can simplify without declaring the whole experiment a failure. @SealOrNoSeal wanted to enjoy a birthday gift; keeping enjoyment visible is still a reasonable part of a long-term plan.
