listing just has the perfect product picture. Is asking for actual photos annoying when it's not a super expensive card?

It's a reasonable request. Some sellers handle lots of inventory and use representative images, but you're still allowed to decide what information you need. I'd ask politely for photos of the copy I'd receive, especially if condition matters to me. If they can't provide them, check the description and return terms and decide whether you're comfortable. Asking doesn't obligate either person to make the sale.
