They may be building a deck instead of a binder. Players often want multiple copies of useful cards to make their decks work more consistently. That's one reason I don't dismiss a card just because it isn't flashy. Collectors and players can look at the same table and see completely different things they need. Neither person is doing the hobby wrong.
