A polite offer is fine when offers are welcome. I check the exact card in our app first, explain my number briefly if needed, and give the seller room to say no. “Would you consider this?” goes a long way. What gets uncomfortable is arguing after they've answered or picking apart a card just to pressure them. You can negotiate and still be pleasant company.
