I talk to some card friends more than people I've known forever. Is that a weird thing to feel grateful for?

Not weird at all. Shared interests give people a reason to show up and something easy to begin talking about. You can appreciate the friendships without needing every meeting to include a purchase or trade. Sometimes the best thing you take home isn't another card.
